The world No.2 also withdrew from Wimbledon, but still did not let the pressure get to him

Rafael Nadal withdrew from the Laver Cup in Washington, D.C., on Thursday as a result of “personal reasons,” the No. 2-ranked player in the world said on Twitter.
“Since I need to spend time with my family, I apologize for not being able to participate in Laver Cup. I hope to be able to play in the upcoming events,” he wrote.
Nadal withdrew for personal reasons from the first set against Frenchman Richard Gasquet in the semifinals and when serving for the match at 4-3, he collapsed to the ground and was helped by the chair umpire.
This is the second time Nadal has withdrawn from the Laver Cup. The previous year, he withdrew after one scheduled match against the U.S. Open champion, Andy Murray.
Nadal was taken to the hospital by ambulance and later in the evening, he flew back to Miami.
“Unfortunately, a pre-existing medical condition prevented me from playing in the tournament in Washington, D.C. I want to thank everyone who supported me this week and all the staff at the hospital,” he said in the statement.
Also Wednesday, Nadal withdrew from Wimbledon with the Open champion, Roger Federer, also withdrawing. The Laver Cup was played Wednesday, with Federer advancing to the quarterfinals against Dominic Thiem.
Nadal was not the only man to withdraw from the event. Former world number one Novak Djokovic didn’t play, because he was on a four-month injury absence. He said he was “still not 100 percent recovered” and felt a bit fatigued on the
