A man has been arrested for jumping out of a plane while it was taking off at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport, airport officials said.
After taking off from Terminal A, the man ran to the back of the plane, jumped over and fell into the aircraft’s path as it was taxiing, Sky Harbor spokesman Jonathan Garcia said. The plane took off from the terminal a short time later.
There were no injuries reported.
Garcia did not have any additional details. CNN affiliate KNXV reported that an airline employee spotted the man leap from the plane and called for help.
“We are extremely grateful no one was hurt, but we take the safety of our customers and employees extremely seriously,” Sky Harbor Airport Director Robert Hunter said in a statement.
“The Phoenix Police Department took appropriate action with the assistance of our aviation partners to safely remove the passenger from the aircraft and secure the area.”
The man will be taken to jail.
