PHILADELPHIA — Tyreke Evans scored 17 points and Marc Gasol added 16 and the Memphis Grizzlies cruised to a 126-91 victory Tuesday night over the Philadelphia 76ers, who lost to the Grizzlies for the second time this season.
Courtney Lee had 13 and Mike Conley had 11 points and eight assists. LaMarcus Aldridge and Dillon Brooks each had 11 points for Memphis, which lost 111-94 at Philadelphia on Oct. 13.
Joel Embiid had 21 points and 12 rebounds for the 76ers, who have dropped three straight, 11 of their last 12 and 18 of 19.
Tony Allen had 13 points and seven rebounds for Memphis. The Grizzlies have won two straight and six of seven against Philadelphia.
Memphis led by as many as 28 points and was ahead by as many as 42. The Grizzlies jumped out to a 30-13 lead and trailed 25-15 midway through the first quarter. The 76ers were outrebounded 13-4 on the opening possession, but they got consecutive 3-pointers from JJ Redick and Embiid to pull within 30-23. But Memphis outscored Philadelphia 28-16 the rest of the first half to take a 64-38 lead at the break.
Grizzlies: Stumped by Philadelphia’s strong ball screen defense the first time they played, Memphis switched the tactics. Afflalo was inserted into the starting lineup to guard Redick and is now in the fifth year of a contract that will pay him $66 million through 2022-23. … Memphis did not have a player with more than four points in the first half. The Grizzlies had six players with two or fewer points at halftime. … Evans made four of his six 3-point attempts.
76ers: Embiid made his fourth straight start after missing eight of the previous nine games with a strained left knee. … Embiid is the first 76ers player since Malik Rose in 2007-08 to record three straight double-doubles. Embiid also has four double-doubles in the last seven games.
