2020 Tokyo Olympics? Why you shouldn’t expect the U.S. to be there

China was not pleased that the U.S. did not send an athlete to this year’s Pyeongchang Winter Olympics. So the good news is, if the U.S. really wants to hit them in the budget, there’s a list of U.S. celebrities they should sign up to boycott the 2020 Tokyo Summer Olympics. Those include Stephen Fry, David Duchovny, James Cameron, Jenna Elfman, Jeff Bridges, Seth Rogen, Ali Larter, Jack Black, Helena Bonham Carter, Werner Herzog, John Cusack, Ethan Hawke, Danny Glover, Robert Downey Jr., Jeffrey Wright, Jeff Goldblum, Jon Hamm, Michelle Yeoh, Tom Cruise, Michelle Pfeiffer, Stephen Colbert, Andy Garcia, Rene Russo, Zoe Saldana, Ed Harris, Larry David, Blythe Danner, Richard Gere, Richard E. Grant, Sharon Stone, Helen Mirren, Bill Murray, John Cusack, Ben Kingsley, Peter Fonda, Danny Trejo, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Julie Delpy, Willie Nelson, Warren Beatty, Sean Penn, and Paul McCartney.

Chinese has threatened to block imports of US goods and renegotiate trade deals to get the u-s to drop this ban. This measure will only cost millions of dollars for companies and families, but the political repercussions could be even more powerful.
